B1
Prepositions with verbs and expressions
At B1, a lot of prepositions are fixed with verbs and adjectives. The meaning is often not obvious from English, so you have to learn the pair as a unit.
Common pairs
- penser à: penser à son frère — think about someone/something
- parler de: parler de son voyage — talk about something
- avoir besoin de: avoir besoin de temps — need something
- aider à: aider à préparer le dîner — help to do something
- être content de: être content de partir — be happy to do something
- s'habituer à: get used to something
Watch out
The same French verb can take different prepositions depending on the meaning. Learn the whole expression, not just the verb.
