Un matin, Amira crée, par plaisanterie, le comité des minutes perdues. Elle note les retards, mais aussi les conversations qu'ils produisent: un technicien explique pourquoi l'ascenseur tombe en panne, une comptable avoue qu'elle n'ose plus déjeuner loin de son bureau, un stagiaire décrit les messages auxquels personne ne répond. Le tableau devient moins un reproche qu'une radiographie de l'organisation. La direction s'inquiète d'abord de cette arithmétique ironique, puis comprend que les minutes perdues ne sont pas vides; elles recueillent ce que l'ordre du jour exclut. Lorsqu'une nouvelle règle impose la ponctualité stricte, Amira demande qu'on crée aussi dix minutes sans objectif. Sinon, dit-elle, le silence reprendra simplement la place du retard. La proposition paraît paradoxale, presque improductive, mais elle circule de service en service. In the company, every meeting begins seven minutes late, never enough to shock anyone, always enough to dissolve attention. One morning, Amira jokingly creates the committee of lost minutes. She records the delays, but also the conversations they produce: a technician explains why the elevator breaks down, an accountant admits that she no longer dares to have lunch far from her desk, and an intern describes the messages no one answers. The chart becomes less a reproach than an X-ray of the organization. Management first worries about this ironic arithmetic, then understands that the lost minutes are not empty; they collect what the agenda excludes. When a new rule imposes strict punctuality, Amira asks that ten minutes without an objective also be created. Otherwise, she says, silence will simply take the place of delay. The proposal seems paradoxical, almost unproductive, but it circulates from department to department. Several teams then discover that protecting a useless space can become the most serious condition for useful work.
