Word groups: sixteen French nouns, four themes
Find the four groups of four hidden among sixteen French nouns. Every round teaches you the words: their article, what they mean, how they sound and why they belong together.
How a round works
- Sixteen French nouns appear on the board without their articles. They hide four groups of four that share a theme, from easy to tricky.
- Tap four nouns and submit. A right group locks in with its theme; a wrong one costs a mistake, and “One away!” tells you three of the four belong together. Some nouns fit two themes: find the group where all four belong.
- Four mistakes end the round. After two, you can ask for a hint: the theme of one group. At the end, every noun is shown with its article, its meaning and its pronunciation.
Why words in groups
Sorting nouns by theme makes you think about what each word means, not only how it is spelt. The result then gives every noun back with its article, so each round leaves you with sixteen words with their article (le, la, l’).
