French writing check

Write in French, then read every correction with the rule behind it and a link to the lesson that teaches it. Your mistakes become sentence training, and your history shows what has changed since last time.

What a check looks like

The writing check in the Practice French app: a learner text above its corrected version, with each change marked and explained.

How it works

  1. Write or paste a French text — a message, a diary entry, a piece of homework — and start the check.
  2. Read the corrected text next to yours. Every change is explained in your own language and links to the lesson behind the rule.
  3. Turn the corrections into sentence training, then check a new attempt and compare the two error counts.

A worked example

A short learner text with three typical mistakes, and what the check says about each of them.

Your text

Je habite dans un petite appartement à Lyon depuis deux ans. Hier, je suis allé au marché et j’ai acheté des pommes rouge.

Corrected text

J’habite dans un petit appartement à Lyon depuis deux ans. Hier, je suis allé au marché et j’ai acheté des pommes rouges.

Common questions

Is the French writing check free?

One check per day is free with an account. Premium raises the daily limit; sentence training and history are included either way.

Which kinds of mistakes does it correct?

Spelling, agreement, verb forms, articles and prepositions, word order and common false friends — each with a short explanation and, where one exists, a link to the matching lesson.

Does it work on the web as well as in the apps?

Yes. The writing check is in the web app and in the iOS and Android apps, with the same account and the same history.

What happens to my text?

It is sent to Google Gemini, acting as our processor, to produce the corrections. Your last 100 checks stay in your private history, which you can delete. Nothing is used for advertising.

Is this a French grammar checker?

It corrects your French like one, but it is built for learning: every correction is explained and linked to practice, so the goal is fewer mistakes next time rather than a cleaned-up text.
