Word Puzzle: a French word a day

Six tries to find the noun, then one tap to pick its article. Every result teaches you the word: le or la, what it means, a sentence it lives in, and how it sounds.

How a round works

  1. Type a French noun of the day’s length. Green tiles are in the right place, amber ones are in the word somewhere else, grey ones are not in it.
  2. You have six rows. After two rows you can ask for a hint: the first letter; after four, the meaning.
  3. When the word is found or the rows run out, pick le or la. The result shows the article, the meaning, an example sentence and the pronunciation.

Why the le/la step

French nouns have a gender, and learners forget it faster than the word itself. Guessing the article right after the word, every day, is the smallest possible habit that fixes it.

What a shared result looks like

The share text carries the pattern and the article mark, never the word, so a friend can play the same puzzle.
