Le colis est apparu un jeudi soir dans le hall du 18 rue des Ormes. Il n’avait ni nom ni adresse complète, seulement un prénom écrit au feutre : « Amir ». L’immeuble comptait deux Amir, un étudiant discret au troisième étage et un retraité bavard au rez-de-chaussée. Aucun des deux n’attendait de livraison.
La gardienne, Mme Roussel, a refusé de laisser le paquet disparaître dans un coin. Elle a affiché une note près des boîtes aux lettres et a demandé aux voisins de raconter ce qu’ils savaient. Une adolescente avait vu un livreur pressé ; un musicien avait entendu quelque chose de fragile bouger dans la boîte ; le retraité se souvenait d’une voisine partie à l’hôpital la veille.
Ils ont finalement ouvert le colis ensemble, avec prudence. À l’intérieur, il y avait une couverture tricotée, une petite carte sans signature et une photo ancienne de l’immeuble. Mme Roussel a reconnu la voisine hospitalisée sur la photo, beaucoup plus jeune. Le paquet lui était destiné, mais l’expéditeur avait oublié son nom. Le lendemain, plusieurs voisins sont allés lui porter la couverture. Ils étaient entrés dans le hall pour résoudre une erreur ; ils en sont sortis avec une raison de se saluer.

The package appeared on a Thursday evening in the lobby of 18 rue des Ormes. It had neither a name nor a complete address, only a first name written with a marker: “Amir.” The building had two Amirs, a quiet student on the third floor and a talkative retired man on the ground floor. Neither of them was expecting a delivery.
The caretaker, Mrs. Roussel, refused to let the parcel disappear into a corner. She posted a note near the mailboxes and asked the neighbors to say what they knew. A teenager had seen a hurried delivery driver; a musician had heard something fragile moving inside the box; the retired man remembered a neighbor who had gone to the hospital the day before.
They finally opened the package together, carefully. Inside, there was a knitted blanket, a small unsigned card, and an old photo of the building. Mrs. Roussel recognized the hospitalized neighbor in the photo, much younger. The package was meant for her, but the sender had forgotten her name. The next day, several neighbors went to bring her the blanket. They had entered the lobby to solve a mistake; they left with a reason to greet one another.
